The VCSA Project Analyst provides internal project management and analyst support to four senior leaders in the Vice Chancellor-Student Affairs Office - the Vice Chancellor-Student Affairs, Chief of Staff, Assistant Vice Chancellor-Student Retention & Success, and the Director of Assessment & Evaluation.
Reporting to the Chief of Staff with intermittent work direction from the Director of Assessment & Evaluation, the incumbent will work on a number of high-level special projects and initiatives that involve assessment and program evaluation, learning outcomes, educational research, writing reports, accessing and analyzing data needed for critical decision making needed for critical decision making by the Vice Chancellor-Student Affairs and their senior leadership. They will be responsible for collecting and communicating the progress with Student Affairs strategic goals as well as contributions Student Affairs makes to the campus strategic plan and other institutional goals. Duties will include data retrieval and the development of functional tables through programs like Tableau. The Analyst will oversee key initiatives throughout the academic year, providing written updates and visual representations, analysis, reports and briefings; and provide work direction and supervision for ad hoc projects or initiatives completed by graduate assistants.
Utilizing concepts and theories germane to Student Affairs (i.e. educational equity, student development and departure, research methods in higher education and diverse learning environments), the incumbent will provide analysis, consultation and data presentation and design for unit and divisional assessment reports goals and metrics, other initiatives and programs that promote student success, retention and development, and overall wellbeing and satisfaction. The Student Affairs Analyst must have exceptional skill in organization and project management, data (quantitative and qualitative) analysis capability, clear communication skills (written and oral), and adapt quickly to various projects that vary in scope, audience and context.

• Knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs. Skilled in the use of statistical software packages, e.g. SPSS. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of database interfaces, data extraction, data analysis, data manipulation, written and graphic summaries, and translations between databases and spreadsheets.
