Manage logistics to develop strategies and tactical means to support the Global Supply Chain. Role focuses on freight cost efficiency, logistics performance, and project management to timeline and budget. Must effectively work cross functionally and with AbbVie/Supplier collaboration to achieve the goals. Performance improvement output will include continuous improvement as measured by Key Performance Indicators accomplished through incumbent collaboration or provider turnover. On time and under budget project management accomplished while maintaining effective collaboration will result in a high level of confidence in the department’s ability to take on strategic tasks.
Manage all logistics for all modes including air, ocean, and ground.
Negotiation and management with the operational and fiduciary responsibility for global services.
Oversight of logistical solutions for Regional Distribution Centers in the U.S. and Rest of World, including intra-company and direct distribution to customers.
Entails inbound and outbound transportation management in a global context
The function requires excellent communication skills in dealing with our global network of affiliated companies and our worldwide transportation providers.

Bachelors’ degree, preferably in business or supply chain related field. MBA degree is beneficial. Experience in areas such as: logistics planning, distribution operations, transportation operations, and project management experience.
The individual needs a broad business perspective, knowledge and understanding of supply chain and logistics processes. A history of delivering transportation solution through and managing the performance of Third Party Logistics Providers. Experience with 4PL’s is a plus.
Highly developed interpersonal skills and effective written and spoken communication skill are absolutely critical. Fluency in English is required (other regional languages are a plus). AbbVie’s business is conducted internally in English.
Proven leadership ability especially when leading employees that report through other organizations. Strong strategy development and planning skills coupled with necessary knowledge of logistics network design, strategic modeling, and supply chain operations.
Issue identification and strong problem analysis and solution development skills. Exceptional workload management and organizational skills.
Proficiency with common software tools (i.e. MS Project, PowerPoint, MS Word, Excel) and techniques (i.e. plans, schedules, presentations, etc.) is required. Strong knowledge of business financial systems and tools is required.
