The Information Technology Professional’s primary role is system support for in the College of Natural Science Dean’s office and its affiliated departments and units, including MS Windows, Apple OS, Linux and Android operating systems and standard software for communication, business and scientific use. This individual will work under the direction of the Nat Sci CIO to maintain and update operating systems and standard software, analyze, troubleshoot and resolve end user requests in a courteous, timely and accurate fashion. Will help users use MS365, SharePoint and One Drive for Business to manage workflow. This position also requires some base level server/application administrator skills.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years of college, technical, vocational or business school such as an Associates Degree in computer technology or information systems, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed OR a Bachelors Degree in computer technology or information systems, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Working technical knowledge of PC operating systems, including Windows 7, 8, 10, Apple OS, Android, MS Office, MS365. Working knowledge of standard network communication, routing, switching and networking principles. Experience with computer security, virus and malware removal. Strong interpersonal skills and a customer service orientation. Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience. The ability to independently conduct the research necessary to solve system hardware and software problems. System deployment and operating system imaging. Keen attention to detail with analytical and problem-solving abilities. Highly self-motivated and directed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with MSU EBS Financial and HR systems. Experience working as a team member in large-scale system migrations. Experience supporting iPads, tablets, Android phones, iPhones, and Windows phones. Previous end user support in a call center and walk-up repair environment. Knowledge of SharePoint, One Drive for Business and its work flow. Working knowledge of data recovery and system forensics. Experience with Apple Mac OSX deployments.
