Assists in conducting agricultural research at the Edisto Research and Education Center (EREC), including crop preparation and harvesting, crop research and equipment management. Performs other duties as assigned. JOB DUTIES:
65% - Essential - Crop Preparation, Harvesting and Research: Assists in measuring and laying out research plots. Cleans and organizes seed for planting. Plants, cultivates, and harvests crops. Collects, weighs and processes research samples. Assists in monitoring plant pests. Rates plants for production traits
25% - Essential - Equipment Operation: Operates and assists in calibration of sprayers and applicators. Operates equipment that has Precision Agriculture applications
10% - Essential - Beef Cattle and Forages Research: Feeds, provides elementary care, and monitor health status of beef cattle MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor's degree in animal husbandry, agriculture or a related field and experience in agricultural research or animal care that is directly related to the area of employment. Work experience in animal care or agricultural research may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. RESPONSIBILITIES:
