Position Summary: The Associate Director of Purchasing reports to the Director of Purchasing. In addition to managing everyday Purchasing Department activities; this position will be instrumental in implementing, and then managing a University-wide e-Procurement system; which includes P2P, eContracts and eSourcing. Additionally, strategic sourcing initiatives, managing best-in-class strategic supplier relationships, reviewing contracts and service agreements will be among daily responsibilities. In the absence of the Director of Purchasing, the Associate Director of Purchasing will make operational decisions based on prior discussions and experience with university policies and procedures. The Associate Director of Purchasing consults with all University departments to determine how the Purchasing Department can assist in achieving their goals by understanding their unique purchasing needs and developing sourcing plans and strategies to best meet those needs. Acting on behalf of the Purchasing Director, the Associate Director of Purchasing will implement supplier performance and quality management programs, ensure continuous process improvement and innovation, produce administrative and operational efficiencies, mitigate risk, and comply with internal and external policies.
Prerequisite Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain Management or other related field • Minimum 7 years of experience in analysis of business needs, procurement operations, development of business systems, project management or an equivalent combination of professional experience with a minimum of 4 years supervisory experience • Experience implementing an e-Procurement system • Experience with procurement models of ERP systems, electronic catalog management and the most common desktop applications • Experience with strategic sourcing methods • Excellent communication, and customer service skills • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel (this position will be expected to prepare complex reports for data analysis which will include pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
