Responsibilities We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join the Strategic Sourcing team. Reporting to Manager of Global Sourcing, the Strategic Sourcing Specialist will work collaboratively with the procurement team to develop and maintain a low cost global supply chain sustaining competitive advantages in cost, quality and delivery. The selected candidate will lead efforts to rationalize the supply base, negotiate long-term agreements, and support current and new product development initiatives to meet our year-over-year cost reduction targets.
Responsible for all procurement and supply management functions relating to, and in support of, strategic global sourcing, cost reduction and supply chain risk mitigation initiatives
Monitors commodity market for strategic raw material trends and develops hedging strategy to maximize leverage and minimize risk;
Identifies and actively pursues sourcing-related cost reduction opportunities, driving savings in line with overall business expectations, ensuring targets for cost reduction are achieved;
Takes a lead role in new supplier evaluation, selection, qualification and development following FuelCell Energy’s Strategic Sourcing Process. Establishes milestone timelines and works with cross-functional teams to coordinate qualification activities to meet the product delivery deadlines;
Build relationships and maintain interface at senior level within key strategic suppliers’ organizations
Closely manages supplier relationships, leverages spending and technologies to develop a supply base that creates and sustains a competitive advantage in cost, quality and delivery;
Negotiates and executes long term agreements with key strategic suppliers to drive favorable contract terms and pricing;
Participates in cross functional teams on sourcing of equipment in support of new product/next generation development projects;
Monitors supplier landscape including risks and benefits in competitive global markets within Asia, Europe, and North/South Americas;
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education: BS/BA degree in business or manufacturing related technical discipline is required. CPSM is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of Sourcing and/or Supply Chain Management experience in sourcing of engineered equipment and specialty raw materials is required. Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Travel: Must have the ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%. Must have the ability to travel between Torrington and Danbury offices as required.
Candidate Must Have / Be:
Demonstrable success in qualifying alternate sources of supply and achieving cost reductions for complex engineered materials, assemblies and equipment
Demonstrable experience in Low Cost Country (LCC) sourcing and international supplier development for engineered materials and complex equipment is strongly preferred
Experience in multinational sourcing is strongly preferred (i.e. China, Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia)
In-depth knowledge of procurement, both strategically and operationally, with a strong understanding of procurement and strategic sourcing processes
Strong technical knowledge of raw materials (i.e. ferrous and non-ferrous metals) and a variety manufacturing processes/methods and fabrication techniques used by suppliers (i.e. welding, brazing, machining, fabrication, and stamping)
Experience leading contract negotiations with suppliers on pricing, and terms & conditions which support business requirements, including clearly defined service expectations / goods specifications, performance measurement practices and shortfall remedies
Able to successfully manage multiple complex sourcing projects concurrently
Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
Fluency in any LCC sourcing countries languages is a plus
Self-motivated, proactive, and creative with critical thinking skills
Able to read drawings and blueprints is preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint)
Experience working with an ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics AX a plus)
Able to support and adhere to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (ISO 9001:2015)

General work is in an office environment utilizing a computer and other office equipment
Must have the ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%
Must be able to travel between CT offices to attend meetings as required
Must have or be able to obtain a U.S. Passport immediately upon hire
