The Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Science is responsible for using coaching background and knowledge to collect, measure, and interpret player performance data that is derived from Catapult GPS tracking systems, weight room tracking devices, sleep monitoring devices, subjective questionnaires, and other performance testing and assessment tools.
Required Education and Experience:
Masterâ™s Degree in Sport Science, Sport Physiology, Kinesiology, or Sports Studies, or related field
Two years of Strength and Conditioning experience at the NCAA Division I level or Professional level. Employer will accept a combination of strength and conditioning experience at both NCAA Division I and/or Professional level for a total of two (2) years
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
Uses coaching background and knowledge to collect, measure, and interpret player performance data that is derived from Catapult GPS tracking systems, weight room tracking devices, sleep monitoring devices, subjective questionnaires, and other performance testing and assessment tools
Responsible for setting up and utilizing Texas A&Mâ™s Edge10 athlete management system to bring all athletic department performance data together into one place to aid analysis and allow secure access to appropriate staff
Provides detailed analysis, in conjunction with key sport staff, to prioritize information and feedback best suited for each individual sports team
Provides assistance in planning long and short term schedules, training programs, and practice plans
Produces daily, weekly, and phase feedback for coaches and performance staff (S&C, sports medicine, sports nutrition) in a format they can understand
Continuously assesses the scientific validity and practical applicability of new technology, systems, and methods
Assists the athletic administration with sport science related projects and contributes to departmental meeting and focus groups
Trains and educates coaches and other appropriate sport staff in basic sport science principles, data collection, data management, and analysis
Supervise three (3) subordinate employees, including two (2) assistant sports science directors and one (1) intern
Maintains continual and thorough familiarity with all applicable NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations. Establishes and ensures communication and enforcement of rules and regulations for all staff members and student workers supervised
Performs other duties as assigned
