Participates in the development of short and long-term compensation vision and strategy for Northwestern Mutual in conjunction with senior management and departmental leaders.
Designs, implements, and administers compensation programs in support of strategic objectives across the company and consults on a variety of issues. Consultation is focused on integrating in-depth compensation design principles with business strategies to achieve desired behavioral and financial outcomes. Provides guidance and consultation (with significant influence and persuasion) to senior and line management on the design and application of these programs.
Ensures that the company’s compensation programs are achieving intended outcomes and being administered consistently across the organization by serving as subject matter expert and representing compensation within Shared Operations, Shared Consulting, Embedded HR and other Centers of Excellence. Leads compensation related projects, conducts compensation research, implements and introduces new and enhanced compensation and benefit related initiatives.

Bring Your Best! What this role needs: •Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, human resources or equivalent degree. •Minimum of ten years compensation experience to include demonstrated success designing, modifying and consulting on compensation programs, •Experience with multiple job evaluation methodologies, and knowledge of regulations and laws impacting compensation practices. •Strong business acumen to include knowledge in current and future practices, trends and information affecting the business and organization. •Diverse business background supporting distinct business units as compensation professional. •Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge across complex business areas. •Proven ability to build a strong rapport with people at all levels of the organization and influence without authority. •Exceptional analytical and mathematical skills. •Demonstrated ability to integrate among the various Human Resources disciplines.
