Minimum Qualifications Qualifications required are an earned Ph.D. in Information Systems (IS), Business Analytics, or a related field from an AACSB accredited institution. Exceptional ABDs with teaching and research experience may be considered. The applicant's academic concentration, research programs or professional experience should be in areas directly related to IS, cybersecurity, and/or analytics. Applicants must be able to demonstrate teaching excellence at the collegiate level along with a strong commitment to high quality research in the field. The candidate will be expected to perform university, public, and professional service as part of the workload.
Relevant teaching experience at the university level, a record of publications in peer reviewed journals and/or certifications in the field of IS or business analytics. Knowledge of working with popular analytics software tools and languages commonly used in industry such as SAS, IBM SPSS Modeler, SQL, Python, R. Hadoop, Tableau, among others. The successful candidate should have the ability to teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Description of the Department or Unit Students majoring or minoring in the Computer Information Systems (BSBA) degree at Appalachian State University gain valuable professional skills and capabilities, enabling them to pursue a wide variety of technology-related careers. The CIS major teaches students how to successfully interface between the technical and management aspects within companies.
Through coursework, projects and internships, students develop the knowledge to serve as the vital bridge between business areas and IT. They will learn to work with networks, databases, web sites and integrated systems. Graduates possess a strong command of the methodologies, tools and techniques to build successful information systems. This accredited program is housed in the Department of Computer Information Systems and Supply Chain Management in the Walker College of Business.
