The Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management is a large and diverse School in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences which includes 44 professorial academics and 11 non-professorial academics who are internationally known scholars with training in the fields of applied economics and management science. The AEM community also includes over 700 undergraduates, 220 undergraduate minors, 100 graduate students, and 38 members of the professional and support staff.

POSITION: Senior Lecturer, Food Industry Management Program (FIMP)
ANTICIPATED START DATE: July 2019.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The individual sought for this position will assist in the management and execution of the set of executive education programs offered by the Food Industry Management Program (FIMP) and have responsibility for their efficient conduct, high quality content, enrollment growth and financial viability. Responsibilities will include collaboration with executive education client companies in the areas of curriculum design, speaker selection, marketing, program evaluation and program logistics. The candidate will also assist JCB executive education staff in developing new programs in both the food industry as well as in adjacent industry sectors, and for recruiting new participants for these programs.Travel to industry events and conferences is expected as maintaining a vibrant network of relationships withfood industry companies and industry leaders is essential to the success of both existing and future programs.
Undergraduate teaching responsibilities will include leading the Food Marketing Fellows Program and teaching a 3-credit course related to food marketing.The Food Marketing Fellows Program responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, and selecting Fellows; planning, organizing, and leading fall semester one-day trips and a January international study trip.The international study is fully funded—approximately $40,000-$50,000—through a mix of FIMP endowments, grants and student contributions.
OPPORTUNITIES: The Food Industry Management Program is widely recognized as the premier food industry education and research program in the United States. FIMP has a three-part mission:teaching, research and outreach/executive education and has an applied focus on the commercial, downstream end of the food supply chain, chiefly food retailers and their suppliers.FIMP's three principal activities combine to form a virtuous cycle – broad and deep food industry relationships resulting from executive education provide sources for research data, industry insights, classroom speakers and hosts for FIMP international student study tours.Food Industry firms are populated with FIMP and Dyson alumni at senior levels who often collaborate in research, teaching and executive education.
FIMP is worldwide leader in food industry executive education. Its Food Executive Program celebrates its 55th annual meeting in July 2019, the longest running executive education program in the food industry.Seven of the annually reoccurring programs, varying from 2-5 days in length, include:.

Together, these open enrollment and custom programs generate revenues well in excess of a million dollars per year.In addition, they contribute to the FIMP and Dyson teaching and research missions by fostering industry relationships that provide classroom speakers, internships and jobs for students, invaluable data generally not available to other public researchers.
Interdisciplinary collaboration is embraced by the Dyson School and supported by various centers and institutes on campus such as the Institute for Social Sciences, the Institute for Behavioral Economics and Consumer Choice, the Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future, The Center for Food and Beverage Management, the Business of Food Center, among many others.
QUALIFICATIONS: (1) MBA, Master's degree in a business discipline, or similar (2) experience working with food industry companies or other frequent contact with food industry executives; (3) experience with executive education; (4) teaching experience; (5) strong organizational and interpersonal skills; and (5) a thorough understanding of food systems and specifically food retailing, in terms of scope, structure, strategies, and evolving trends and challenges.
