Reporting to the VC-CFO, Information Technology Services (ITS) delivers Enterprise services to the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) under the leadership its Chief Information Officer (CIO).

In this position, you will lead the University's Active Directory (AD) team. Your team is part of the Identity Management group within the Office of Information Assurance. Guiding the strategy, planning, and operation of our enterprise Active Directory you will serve as the central point of contact for Active Directory for other technology teams within the University for all matters related to Microsoft Active Directory.
You and your team will ensure the continuous availability of AD services.
You will collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture team to ensure Active Directory architecture is aligned with campus-wide architectural standards.
Shepherd the evolution of the design for the core set of Active Directory services. including Domain Name System (DNS) for AD, AD Certificate Services, AD Federation Services (ADFS), Distributed File System (DFS), and Azure AD Connect.
Working closely with your counterparts at UCSD Health, you will ensure transparent and coordinated operation and evolution of AD services.
As part of our striving for continuous improvement, you will provide leadership and be a principal contributor of GPO creation, and other automation tools to raise the operational efficiency of our Active Directory environment.
Mentor and coach junior staff to grow the maturity of operational efficiency.
You will review and improve the security posture of the campus Active Directory.
Partners with counterparts throughout ITS to coordinate Active Directory with other directory services such as LDAP, Radius, and Grouper.

Proven experience (typically 6+ years) in an Active Directory environment and experience (typically 3+ years) with Active Directory design and deployment
Experience (typically 3+ years) on Microsoft authentication/authorization models and impact on performance, scalability, and security, including AD Trusts configuration/management.
Experience supporting Active Directory at large scale (> 5000 nodes) in a higher education or multinational corporate environment.
Advanced PowerShell and Group Policy skills.
Advanced knowledge of computer security best practices and policies including demonstrated experience securing most complex server-based software.
Advanced experience writing and editing the most complex scripts used to perform system maintenance and administration.
General knowledge of other areas of IT. Thorough understanding of and experience with systems-related issues and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance.
Strong skills associated with adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs. Comprehensive understanding of how system management actions affect other systems, system users and dependent/related functions.
Demonstrated experience leading a team of IT professionals.
Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner.
