This position will be the Office of General Counsel's primary liaison with University Procurement, responsible for providing guidance and counsel to Procurement, as well as other divisions and schools engaged in procurement transactions, assisting with the drafting, review, and negotiation of contracts for this high volume area, developing forms and templates, analyzing risk, and advising on policies related to the Procurement function. [University Procurement handles a wide array of RFPs and contracts, including supplier, service, consulting and SAAS agreements.] This position will also provide assistance to the Office of General Counsel's real estate team, including drafting and negotiating leases and license agreements, construction-related agreements and loan agreements, and otherwise providing support to University units that engage in real estate and other transactions.
Required Education: Juris Doctorate (J.D.) New York State Bar membership
Required Experience: 5+ years related professional legal experience. Must include experience in one or more of the following substantive areas: commercial real estate transactions, construction-related agreements, procurement contracts, contracts and agreements ranging from standard contracts to complex high-dollar-value transactions
Preferred Experience: 5+ years Experience within an academic institution, large organization or government agency preferred
