Under the general supervision of the Director of Procurement, a Buyer I is responsible for placing orders in response to service or material requirements, developing and facilitating contracts with suppliers, assisting in reconciling purchase order discrepancies, and training shoppers. A Buyer I will also assist Category Managers and Sourcing Specialists in administering and managing RFx processes, negotiating contracts, and auditing orders for compliance as required. A Buyer I will review supplier registration submissions to ensure that submitted payment, legal, ethics and contract terms are in agreement with University policies. This Buyer I position should have familiarity with IT procurement and contracting.
B.A./B.S. in Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing or a related field. Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, the ability to manage projects. Experience with Microsoft Office. One to Three years of experience in procurement, sales or marketing. SAP SRM, Ariba Sourcing and CPSM experience preferred. Ideal candidate should have familiarity with IT procurement and contracting
