Communities In Schools (CIS) of Chicago is a nonprofit organization dedicated to working in partnership with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) and community organizations to help students stay in school and be successful.
During the 2018-2019 school year, CIS of Chicago will partner with more than 150 Chicago public schools and expects to connect 2,250 services and programs to more than 75,000 CPS students and their families by leveraging community partner programs and services. In addition, CIS of Chicago places full-time Student Supports Managers in 20 Chicago public schools – our Intensive School partners. Our staff in these schools provide intervention services to a caseload of 45-50 students per school who are at risk of dropping out, as well as connect support services to the whole school.

The Field Supervisor will manage a cohort of Student Supports Managers embedded at our partner schools. The Field Supervisor will provide direct oversight to the cohort as they implement an integrated student supports program addressing individual and whole-school needs. The Field Supervisor will also take on leadership roles within the organization and act as a liaison between the team/school and organization.
Lead and supervise a cohort of Student Supports Managers (SSMs)
Provide weekly, individual and group supervision for SSMs – both programmatic and clinical
Plan and manage regular cohort meetings
Coordinate and provide professional development for the SSMs throughout the school year
Implement onboarding process for new hires
Lead staff performance monitoring and reviews
Update and maintain training manuals
Ensure the Communities In Schools model of Integrated Student Supports is implemented at each school site with fidelity to national standards and in compliance with Chicago Public Schools policies
Establish relationships with school administration and manage meetings and regular communication with them throughout the year
Work collaboratively across teams and departments within CIS of Chicago in service of our mission
Data, Analysis and Reporting
Monitor and audit data collection and program files for quality control and accuracy
Utilize data for internal program improvement and external reporting
Contribute to proposals and funding reports as needed
Additional organizational responsibilities
Represent and promote CIS of Chicago through site visits, speaking engagements, participation in community events, and media opportunities
Assist with other organizational and project activities, as needed
Desired Skills and Attributes:
Expertise in child and adolescent development principles utilizing a trauma-informed lens
Experience with restorative practices, school-level attendance, and behavior improvement strategies and student-centered supports
Experience providing clinical supervision, including case management strategies, self-care, and group strategies
Adept at developing structured systems
Ability to drive self and others to organizational outcomes
Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently
Persuasive, appropriately assertive, and empathic professional communication
Sound written and oral communication skills
Strong analytical skills working with both quantitative and qualitative data
Detail-oriented with a commitment to follow-up and follow-through
Solution-oriented ability to navigate complex school environments
Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as case management database experience
Demonstrates an awareness and respect for cultural diversity
Excellence in communicating with diverse audiences
Demonstrates cultural competency by effectively working with people differing in value systems, ethnicity, cultural backgrounds, language capabilities, and abilities
Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with seven to ten years of relevant experience working with youth, their families and urban public schools (advanced degree in education or other youth development fields may be considered)
Previous supervisory experience within a professional setting
Bilingual candidates (Spanish preferred) and minority candidates strongly encouraged to apply
Daily driving should be expected for this position; applicants must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and reliable daily access to a vehicle
A criminal background check and verification of education and past employment is required; in addition, candidates may not be on the CPS “Do Not Hire” list
Reports to: Director of Integrated Student Supports
Work Environment: The position will be primarily located at the CIS of Chicago office, but will require daily travel to schools and community settings.
