The Senior Manager, Capital Project Procurement is responsible for leading Supplier Commercial Excellence for an assigned portfolio of capital investments. This position is expected to manage the development and execution of progressive and comprehensive commercial strategies with the business function for Entergy’s capital investment portfolio. Entergy’s capital investment portfolio is $17.7bn across the company’s Power Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Renewables, and Nuclear business functions. This position could be assigned to one or more of these stated business functions to enable opportunities to maximize end-to-end value across the assigned portfolio of spend.
This position reports to the Director, Capital Projects & Decommissioning and directs a team of Capital Project Procurement professionals focused on plan, strategy, source, and perform that supports the delivery of safety, cost, quality, schedule, and customer satisfaction measures at a minimum. The Sr. Manager role partners with business function leaders (Director, VP levels) on a regular basis to develop comprehensive and progressive commercial strategies. On occasion, the Sr. Manager will serve as the Director’s delegate and will be a succession candidate to move into the Directorship role.
Summary Job Duties
Safety/Human Performance: Ensure the Team always puts safety first. Actively promote strong safety behaviors, utilizing key tools such as Close Call /Good Catch in addition to proactive field visits to review standards and behaviors. Monitoring and influencing Suppliers to proactively identify any safety concerns.
Supplier Commercial Excellence: Accountable for the development and execution of progressive commercial strategies that enable favorable outcomes for all key stakeholders. Commercial strategies should be comprehensive in nature and developed with the business function in support of business objectives to drive value and service delivery. These comprehensive strategies will support a capital investment portfolio of $17.7bn through 2022 across the company’s Power Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Renewables, and Nuclear business functions.
Post Award Contract Management: Accountable for leverage of a systematic approach to Commercial Contract Management from point of contract execution to contract close-out to support upstream contract development from a lessons learned contract obligations perspective.
Partnership & Performance: Expected to work as a partner with functional business leadership to fully understand the business context, priorities, and challenges to execute effective commercial strategies. Leverage of SC Enablement function to execute effective supplier performance and relationship programs that supports project predictability and favorable outcomes in the space of safety, quality, cost, and schedule certainty.

People Leadership: Accountable for leverage of Supply Chain’s Talent Management Strategy to assure the right Supply Chain talent is recruited, developed, retained, and deployed in line with key business priorities. This position will average management of 6-9 FTE’s within the Capital Project Procurement job hierarchy and could potentially manage people leaders at the Manager, Capital Project Procurement level. Mentor and coach staff.
Minimum education required of the position
Bachelor’s Degree in business, accounting, supply chain management, engineering, finance, or equivalent experience required; MBA preferred. Supply Chain professional/procurement certification preferred.
Minimum experience required of the position
Minimum 10 years preferred experience in supply chain management roles with a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience. 5 years of energy related Supply Chain experience preferred.
Desired knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
7-10 years of Contracting Experience (development, implementation, and post award contract management) leveraging EPC Contracts, Service, Material, and Engineered Equipment contracts.
Strong business acumen and strategic agility, with broad-based knowledge of category management, strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management.
Understanding of Capital Project Management stage gate processes & Supply Chain best practices.
Strong strategic and analytical thinker with an ability to provide focus on service delivery.
Experience with process optimization and continuous improvement in supply chain preferred.
Strong collaboration and relationship management skills and abilities.
Strong communication, facilitation, presentation and creative problem solving skills.
Knowledge of utility industry, regulated organizations, renewable energy, and Nuclear Generation requirements.
