Performs routine histological duties including embedding, sectioning, coverslipping, solution preparation and staining. Staining includes special stains, IHC and H&E.
Performs quality control and period maintenance duties. Records, files and documents activities.
Preferred knowledge of medical terminology, and computers; including Word and Excel. Good communication skills.
Exposure to blood and potentially infectious materials and chemical hazards. Must have good visual acuity. Cannot be color blind.
This position provides an excellent opportunity to work towards management and leadership roles in the laboratory. Training opportunities are available.
Ability to pay close attention to detail and perform all duties with minimal errors. Must be flexible and willing to perform a variety of additional duties as assigned. Expected to perform duties in an independent manner. Must consistently report to work as scheduled.
Education: High school degree is required; additional Chemistry and Biology background is useful. No certification or licensing is required. 2 years of experience in field is preferred. Degree in Biology or Chemistry is ideal.

Peninsula Pathology Institute is the only pathology lab on the Kenai Peninsula, which is famous for its outdoor activities including hiking, camping, world class fishing for halibut and salmon, skiing, etc. There is an abundance of wildlife, beautiful scenery of mountains and rivers, and so much more.
