BASF Global Oilfield Solutions is one of the major suppliers of chemicals to the Upstream Oil and Gas industry. We supply a wide range of performance chemicals to every application sector within oilfield: drilling, cementing, stimulation, and production. Our solutions act as enablers for our customers to achieve maximum results in their oilfield operations.
In your role as Account Manager for the West Texas Territory, you will be responsible for maintaining & growing profitable sales growth in $11-15 M sales territory within Global Oilfield Solutions. The position will be based in either Houston or Midland / Odessa, TX with responsibility for selected accounts in West Texas, New Mexico and Houston. Customer base consists of Service Companies providing solutions in the applications of Drilling Fluids, Cementing, Stimulation and Oilfield Production Chemicals as well as Formulators and Resellers servicing the same market.

Formula for Success
Leveraging your education in chemistry/chemical/petrochemical engineering or other related technical discipline, with a minimum of seven (7) years of oilfield experience, including 3 years direct oil & gas services sales with extensive product / market knowledge, you will contribute to annual sales plan for the region; develop and implement account strategies to achieve sales and growth targets. You will additionally develop and negotiate customer contracts as necessary. An in-depth application knowledge of production, cementing and / or stimulation chemicals will be considered an asset.
Utilizing your strong selling skills including lead identification and follow-up, ability to close the sale, and strong negotiation and project management skills you will implement business & pricing strategies and manage customer receivables / overdues.
Your proven ability to successfully collaborate in a cross-functional, matrixed organization to build organizational alignment and engagement will be vital as you ensure that sales activities in the region are fully communicated through CRM system (Site / Visit reports, Contact documentation, Account plans, Opportunities / Threats, Leads, Sample follow-up, etc.). A clear understanding of BASF systems and processes will be considered an asset.
Demonstrating your excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact with key decision makers at both customers and internal management, you will gather market and customer insights and share information with Regional Marketing. You will additionally provide forecasts of future customer demand and sales performance as required by Supply Chain, Controlling, and business management.
Relying on your strong interpersonal skills to develop and cultivate good working relationships with people in different disciplines and business divisions as well as with people from different cultural backgrounds, both internally and externally to BASF, you will develop and maintain customer relationships in regional locations, evaluate business opportunities, develop specific customer value propositions & plans for implementation, as well as selling value added solutions.
Your robust computer skills, particularly in Microsoft-based programs, will be a highly valued asset.
Your keen ability to be a proven and highly effective problem solver will be evident as you monitor competitor activities and develop actions to prevent market penetration.
