The Role Responsibilities Strategy
Awareness and understanding of the Group's risk strategy and frameworks appropriate to the role.
This is a role within the BCBS 239 Oversight Program to actively drive transition of key governance and risk reporting activities from programme-mode to business-as-usual (BAU) in an effective and sustainable manner.
The role holder is not responsible for specific processes, as per the Operational Risk Type Framework.
The role holder will assist and guide stakeholders to align the risk reporting controls to the Operational Risk Type Framework.
People and Talent
The role holder will have not have any direct reports in this role.
Ensure that risks are properly identified and mitigated, and issues are appropriately escalated
Responsible for overseeing changes in the Group's arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in accordance with BCBS 239 governance and risk reporting responsibilities;
Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework (specifically BCBS 239) in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.

This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
The role requires working closely with Risk & Compliance, Finance, Group Treasury and Information Technology functions within the Group to ensure change delivery.
The following key responsibilities are indicative and specific activities will be prioritised based on agreed action plans
Validation and effectiveness reviews
Set and agree responsibilities and design of validation and effectiveness review mechanism for each evidence of compliance
Monitor the implementation (dry-run or parallel run) of the validation and effectiveness review approach for BCBS 239 activities using either control testing (ORF) or review method
Measure ongoing compliance with BCBS 239
Develop model for translating effectiveness review results to measure ongoing level of compliance with BCBS 239
Design of dashboard to measure compliance with BCBS 239 and pilot each subject area
Transition to business-as-usual (BAU)
Drive transition to BAU for BCBS 239 'governance' activities, including timelines, resources and scope of transition, in conjunction with the ERM team, ITO Governance, Chief Data Officer, Finance and others as required e.g. codification of BCBS 239 requirements into control framework documents
Drive transition to BAU for residual BCBS 239 'risk reporting' activities
Assist with Transition to BAU for Group-level self-assessments
BCBS 239 - Group-level self-assessments
Governance: Develop/update key reference material i.e. self-assessment guidelines, including para interpretations
Process - Horizontal Lead for Governance (and Risk Reporting, where required) for Group-level self-assessments - provide Horizontal-level responses, respond to queries, challenge responses from Verticals as required
