Position Summary: The Office of Investment Management seeks an intellectually curious, creative and technologically savvy individual with quantitative fluency, developed interpersonal skills, and superior ability in written and verbal communication.
The Investment Associate is a critical member of a small, collaborative team with the responsibility for the day-to-day management of the University's endowment and other long-term investments. This position is well-suited to an individual with a strong work ethic, interest in developing expertise across a wide array of investment strategies, and capable of both close collaboration and independent work. The Investment Associate is responsible for portfolio implementation, coordinating as necessary with the University's Treasury, Accounting, Tax and Legal departments. They will assist with the analysis and review of the University's external investment managers and prospective investment opportunities, and conduct related activities including portfolio and manager performance analysis, macroeconomic research, and portfolio monitoring.
In addition, the Investment Associate will maintain several databases used to support portfolio management efforts; keep abreast of current economic trends; assist in the preparation of presentation materials for review by the Investment Committee and Board; and conduct special industry studies. The Associate has significant independence to meet with investment managers individually. This position will be mentored by the Investment Directors and the CIO.
Support the investment team in implementing the portfolio in a small and collaborative team environment.
Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of current external investment managers.
Analyze investment manager and strategy performance to ensure they are consistent with long-term objectives.
Analyze new investment opportunities across a broad range of investment strategies.
Monitor the portfolio and investment managers for compliance within investment guidelines.
Stay abreast of current developments in the institutional investment marketplace.
Begin to build a personal network of industry contacts, including peers, and utilize other team member's contacts to improve the Offices investment processes.
Coordinate all operational aspects of the investment strategy with the Universitys Treasury, Accounting, Tax, and Legal departments.
Develop and maintain internal processes and procedures for investment monitoring and execution.
Point person for outreach to current students and alumni, and the development and oversight of a student internship program.
Work with CIO to develop a career development plan that advances the Associates investment career.
Experience & Educational Background:
Bachelor's Degree required. MBA, CFA or CFA candidate preferred.
3-4 years of related experience; direct institutional investment experience strongly preferred.
Experience interpreting quantitative and qualitative data and making informed recommendations.

Plan and manage projects in their entirety and ensure they are delivered on time.
Ability to communicate results to the investment team and/or ask for clarification when necessary to meet objectives in a timely fashion.
Flexible and able to take initiative and work collaboratively with a small team.
Excellent computer skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and databases.
Strong research, due diligence and presentation skills.
