Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Energy Systems Engineer for School of Engineering- MAE department. This is a grant funded position, that supports DOE Industrial Assessment Center Program's Field Management Operations at CAES. This position reviews reports from centers and provides critique. The Energy Systems Engineer conducts research on various energy generation and efficiency technologies and works with NJ BPU or other state agencies to form opportunities for technical services.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Helps CAES management teams with Initiatives that are outlined in the Field Management Scope of work. This includes but not limited to report review, programmatic metrics development, IAC 101, IAC Director's Meeting preparation, Site visits to other IAC, Social Media campaigns and other strategic initiatives.
Conducts research on various energy efficient and waste minimizing technologies.
Supports day to day operations at the center including training students and staff on technical and program resources, contributes to strategic center directives, contributes to funding proposals and submittals.
Attends meeting with stakeholders and investors, project manages short term projects and supports center director and assistant director on research and outreach efforts.
Helps graduate assistants with research and lab setup for various experiments.
Supports MAE Department on initiatives such as Energy Lab support, Industrial Advisory Board activities and department events.
Collaborates on external funding opportunities.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering discipline ; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Also requires a minimum of two years' relevant professional experience.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills required
Must be a self-starter and motivated to make social, academic or environmental impact
Previous experience in the Energy Efficiency or Renewable Energy Industry
Passionate about energy and energy related topics
Candidates with no sponsorship requirements
PM, LEED or other DOE Certification a plus
Prior experience working with DOE Industrial Assessment Center program
MS Office Suite, Google Docs, DOE Measure Tool, Industrial Data Analytics Tool such as Tableau or Power BI, Computational software such as Python and Database management tools such as Laravel CMS, measurement equipment for energy efficiency Tachometer, flue gas analyzer, power meters and data loggers with IOT sensors.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Traveling to other states for business purposes may be required.
