IHS Markit is seeking an experienced candidate to lead our research coverage of video encoding, processing, storage and distribution markets. Vendor and customer strategies for these are changing rapidly, as they seek flexible solutions for video distribution.
This role is an opportunity to be a part of this dynamic industry through researching, forecasting and commenting on key developments; influencing the strategies our clients develop to enable this industry. The ideal candidate will be working under minimal supervision, while being responsible for leading the video processing, storage and distribution research within the Technology, Media & Telecoms group at IHS Markit.
Summary: The media ecosystem is rapidly changing as the video solutions market no longer revolves around hardware, with cloud implementations and SaaS products replacing single-purpose hardware solutions. Moreover, audiences are allocating content consumption hours and spend to a growing offering of media outlets and micro services.

The ideal candidate will be working under moderate supervision, while being responsible for creating primary and secondary research for the Technology, Media & Telecoms group at IHS Markit.
Specific Job Duties:
As a research analyst for video technology the successful candidate will collaborate with lead analysts, supporting the creation of market size and share databases, forecasts, detailed research reports, presentations and bespoke consulting projects
The candidate will assume an increasingly client-facing role as they develop, dealing with client information queries, attending conferences and events and building rewarding relationships and industry reputation
Responsibilities will include:
Developing expertise in the digital video software market, including: content metadata, content security, content discovery, STB software solutions, Cloud DVR solutions, and OVP platforms, among others
Gathering data and information directly from companies
Carrying out interviews to gather specific information
Developing expertise in data management, manipulation and entry, and forecast techniques
Constructing detailed numerical and written analysis on the latest market trends and evaluating potential, risk, & opportunity of shifts in the industry landscape
Establishing contacts and reputation within the industry
Contributing to custom consulting projects by collaborating with consulting project leaders
Assisting with client communications
Attending vendor and operator briefings, which may include international travel
Candidates must have an interest in telecommunications, technology and media
Candidates should also:
Hold a bachelor's degree in economics, engineering, mathematics, science, statistics or industry-related fields required; post-graduate degree is a plus
Be highly numerate and comfortable with numbers and able to pay keen attention to details
Think logically and organize information, arguments and opinions in a structured way
Have excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to write English clearly and concisely
Demonstrate highly effective organization and prioritization skills including the ability to stay on task and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment
Be experienced users of Microsoft Excel and Word; database design or manipulation experience would be useful
Understand difference between analysis and advocacy
