Reporting to the Sr. Electronic Commodity Manager, the Associate Manager, CEM Commodity is the primary owner for the contract manufacturing (CM) supplier relationships. Working closely with design engineering/product teams, operation engineering, quality, supply management and other commodity managers, and in accordance with the commodity strategy, this role will drive supplier selection and overall supplier management strategy and is responsible for successfully managing the key relationships between Shure and CEM Suppliers.
Manages the outsourcing and contract manufacturing partners globally. Optimizes supplier performance including Quality, Delivery, Cost, Innovation, Supply Chain Management, etc.
Works within the team to establish and develop Commodity Plan based on the company’s strategy and direction. Adapts the strategy as business, market, and economic environments change.
Establishes and maintains Supplier Classification and Supplier Capability Matrix.
Constantly evaluates and identifies supplier risks in term of financial, quality, delivery, cost, capacity, system, market, etc and leads efforts to address those risks.
Maintains supplier relationship. This includes onsite visits, regular conference calls and supplier coming in visits. Understands supplier’s organization structure, work shift, business roadmap, infrastructure planning, and so on… Be the primary contact point and relationship owners.
Be the escalation point at Shure. Collaborates with various internal groups to resolve any issues from supplier’s quality, delivery and design performance.
Identifies cost reduction opportunities within the team and drive implementation to achieve the reductions.
Maintains supplier scorecard (R/Y/G)
Analyzes market trends
Conducts market analysis for price, lead-time, and capacity
Sets up speculative buys
Analyzes market drivers which affects the commodity (raw material, component availability, global supply and demand, etc.)
Initiates and conducts annual supplier contract negotiations
Conducts spend analysis, leading to negotiation with supply base
Leads pricing negotiations
Establishes terms and conditions for contracts
Conducts supplier business reviews
Utilizes standardized agenda
Conducts technology roadmap alignment – Coordinates with Engineering
Identifies cost reduction opportunities
Reviews delivery performance
Reviews quality performance
Reviews contract performance
Coordinates supplier technology presentations for engineering. Introduce new suppliers to Shure engineering when necessary and assist in educating Shure engineering about the Supplier Classification and Commodity Plan.
Supports Strategic Sourcing Specialist role in supplier selection process for new product development teams
Generates cost reduction targets (not just PPV, but also cost avoidance)
Develops and executes annual and multiyear sourcing plans for spend related to our outsourced contract manufacturing suppliers.
Identifies gaps in direction vs. industry. Provide recommendations to address gaps.
Takes strategic lead and champion process improvement projects.
Bachelor’s degree in Business or a technically related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 7 years of experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or a technical position in a medium to high-volume manufacturing environment.
Experience and knowledge in PCBA manufacturing and process.
Competence with MS Office software, MS Excel and MS Access is a plus.
Proven leadership ability and problem-solving skills are a must.
Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams in a matrix organization required.
Strong interpersonal, problem-solving and project management skills required
Strong analytical skills with the ability to quantify/evaluate manufacturing processes and technologies to ensure “best cost” solutions for purchased components and new product cost parameters.

ISM Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M) or Certified Professional in Supply Chain Management (CPSM) certification preferred.
