Under joint direction by the VP/CIO of the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and an Associate Director of the Hillman Cancer Center and leadership, this Research IT/Analyst position requires the development of Analytic and IT strategies and solutions to enable the efficient operation of cancer-related research.
This position is responsible for the following:
- Integration and communication with various IT, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics and research groups, UPMC, Pitt, genomics facilities, Pathology, AWS via UPMC Enterprises, etc. - Development and implementation of analytical tools for research. - Integration, importing, exporting, migration and formatting of 'Omics data - Managing multiple, complex projects across multiple investigators and disciplines - Facilitating the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) - Serving as the lead of complex technical projects overseeing the design, development, testing, and installation of research IT/Analytic solutions within a client group - Serving as a supervisor and/or mentor for other analysts
* 1-2 years of research experience highly recommended * Good communication skills * Highly driven and self-motivated to exceed expectations * Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment * Effective in mentoring and leading less experienced team members * Completes on-going training on-the-job, through courses, self-study, certifications and/or advanced degrees to maintain and enhance technical and business capabilities * Database experience related to research environment * Cloud computing experience with emphasis on research use * Knowledge of informatics tools and requirements * Additionally, this position may be required to maintain a stand by status as part of a rotation within the team. This requires 24 hours per day, 7 days per week availability during the stand by period. The frequency varies based upon the number of colleagues in the rotation.
