The duties and responsibilities of this position will include the coordination of the daily operations of the 10+ acres of the tall grass prairie at The Ohio State University at Marion which will include the removal of invasive species, mowing, trimming, upkeep of the grounds in general, seed collection, plant propagation in the greenhouse and planting of these plants where needed in the prairie and the necessary record keeping of these duties. Responsible for interviewing, hiring and total supervision of 4-5 student employees. Coordination of the operations of the campus greenhouse, including the watering and fertilization of plants, and regular cleaning of the floor and storage spaces. This position will supervise student employees. This is a seasonal position; February 15 through November 15.

Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with prairie restoration. Committed to advancing environmental education. Able to operate GPS device/ GIS software to map prairie, tractors, tillers, and other landscape equipment. Be able to life approximately 30 lbs. unassisted. Will be able to work indoors and outdoors with exposure to all elements of nature. Must be able to step over/on/off obstacles, machinery, operate motor vehicle; sit, stand, grasp, lift, carry, climb, kneel, push, and pull for extended periods of time.
