Managing Director, Emerging Manager Practice. We are looking for a talented individual to join Silicon Valley Bank's (SVB's) Emerging Manager Practice in the Bay Area. The role is part of SVB's Venture Capital Relationship Management team, and involves being a value-added partner and trusted advisor to founders and General Partners of new and emerging venture firms in the Bay Area with a specific focus on San Francisco . The role also involves bringing the entire value of the SVB platform to help these partners be successful and grow their firms.
Manages a wide range of venture capital client relationships.
Leads efforts within assigned client firms to source qualified leads and opportunities for all lines of business within SVB Financial Group to propose and close.
Collaborates with personnel from all lines of business to develop and manage the execution of Strategic Relationship Plans with objective of maximizing creation of value for clients, penetration of SVB offerings, and gross profit growth and yield for SVB Financial Group.
Manages internal and external conflict resolution affecting assigned clients.
Develops complex and creative solutions to client needs. Interacts with clients, referrals and prospects independently.
Develops and maintains a network in the venture capital and PE community and develops referral sources for new SVB clients, investment opportunities, and sources of revenue.
Demonstrated leadership capability.
Ability to analyze client challenges, develops conceptual solutions, and negotiates in support of SVB line of business personnel.
Ability to balance line of business organizational objectives to provide the most valued solution for clients, while maximizing revenue for SVB Financial Group.
Drive value to GPs at VC and PE Firms.
Expertise in expanding opportunities in a cross selling context, and coordinating a cross functional SVB team as required.
Provides guidance on approach to cross-selling.
Knowledge of the Venture Capital and Private Equity Markets.
This individual will likely have the following background/attributes:
8- 10 years' experience working in the venture capital and start-up ecosystem
Prior experience as an investment or operations professional at an early stage venture capital firm or an institutional investment firm/family office which has invested in the venture asset class
Has a strong network with the General Partner/Limited Partner/Founder community in the Bay Area
Passionate about technology start-up's and the venture ecosystem
Authentic relationship building skills and extremely self-motivated and success driven
Desire to be part of a market leading franchise (SVB) in the technology and venture capital industries
Related selling experience.
Strong negotiation and marketing skills.
Good closing skills.
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience.
