Note: This position can be located globally at a Rockwell Automation Office and is expected to travel up to 50% (domestic and internationally).
The International Transportation Manager is responsible for leading the successful execution of a defined strategy. Responsible for developing partnerships with freight forwarders and international transportation providers. The International Transportation Manager works with other Regional International Transportation Managers to define visibility requirements for freight forwarders as well as for metrics and processes. The position manages up to 5 direct reports and international transportation service providers.
Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or shipping.
Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer issues.
Responsible for working with the connected supply chain team to define visibility requirements for shipments from pickup to delivery
Partners with RTMs to establish global metrics and sub metrics as well as BI/visibility tool for delivery of these metrics
Works with RTMs and global freight forwarder contacts on resolving systemic transportation service issues
In conjunction with Sourcing, leads communication of bids to logistics directors with key attributes
Partners with freight forwarders to meet overall delivery of service, quality and cost goals established on an annual basis.
Conducts QBRs with all freight forwarders and service providers
Drives drive continuous improvement in all that we do both with external and internal providers including process innovations and network optimization.
Manage the development of employees in effectively completing their responsibilities.
Provides supervision and leadership to all direct reports.
Displays an understanding of end to end processes from order to delivery to the customers.
By applying functional experience, identifies ideas with other functional leaders, employees and customers to create and influence opportunities for quality improvement throughout the organization.
Instills a sense of urgency and drives problems towards resolution. Monitors the progress of others and redirects efforts.
Transportation -- Knowledge of principles and methods for moving goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.
Administration and Management -- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Provides input and feedback to key leadership positions about process improvement opportunities.
Promotes the leveraging of capabilities, ideas and processes within the team.
Communicate effectively and in a timely manner. Keeps direct reports, team members and key operations players well informed of company issues and direction.
