The Haslam College of Business (HCB) at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications and nominations for a position of Professional Development Coordinator in Haslam Undergraduate Business.

The College: The Haslam College of Business is home to more than 4,700 undergraduate students and 500 graduate students. Six academic departments – Accounting and Information Systems, Business Analytics and Statistics, Economics, Finance, Management, and Marketing and Supply Chain – are housed in HCB, along with non-degree programs and centers that serve the community and state. Undergraduate students at HCB have a choice of nine majors, thirteen collaterals, and six dual concentrations. The undergraduate office is well-respected throughout the university for their professional advising center, and supports undergraduate student professional development by programs including Executives-in-Residence, the Venture Living Learning Community, and a business core focused on practical business knowledge and leadership development. The Position: Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Professional & Career Development, the position of Professional Development Coordinator will have both teaching and program coordination responsibilities. This position will lead coordination of BUAD 200, one of the Haslam Prepared: Ready to Do Business courses. This is a series of four 1-credit hour courses that are required of undergraduate business student that enhance their professional and career development and preparation. BUAD 200 focuses on Integrity, one of the core pillars of the Haslam College of Business, helping students understand the importance of professionalism, communication, openness, and accountability. The Professional Development Coordinator will collaborate with other faculty and staff to deliver multiple sections of one of the courses, ensuring appropriate learning outcomes and success metrics are gathered and met. It will also assist with other BUAD professional development courses as needed. Each course will reach 1,000+ students yearly in the Haslam College of Business. Furthermore, the Professional Development Coordinator will oversee the Communication Studio, hiring and training students in a peer format to assist students with communication skills. The role will have future supervision and training responsibilities. This is an exempt, 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track staff position. Pay Grade 42.
Responsibilities: This position will be responsible for ongoing and new initiatives related to student professional and career development, including teaching and programmatic responsibilities. The position involves internal and external outreach and relationship-building. The Professional Development Coordinators must have excellent communication, writing, teaching, decision-making, organizational, technology, and assessment skills. The individuals must also be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment. Duties may include but are not limited to:
• Coordinate implementation of BUAD 200, one of the Haslam Prepared: Ready to Do Business classes • Conduct assessment • Oversee the Communication Studio • Train and supervise peer professionals and instructors • Collaborate with key faculty, staff and students
Salary: The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and other qualifications and is accompanied by a standard university benefits package.
