The Vice President, Operations is responsible for overseeing the management team across multiple state-of-the-art pharmaceutical distribution centers within a designated geography. This distributions services management team acts as the primary driver of operational excellence as part of AmerisourceBergen’s robust human health distribution network. The Vice President, Operations (VPO) will also be accountable for financial operations and continuously driving quality, efficiency and safety within the distribution centers.
The VPO role is a highly collaborative, highly visible, cross-functional role that will necessitate a focus on innovation, driving process, performance improvement and standardizing operating procedures across the network. This includes partnering with functions across AmerisourceBergen’s enterprise, including the entire distribution services organization (Engineering, Transportation, etc.), senior Sales leadership, Marketing and Communications, Finance, Digital Business Solutions (IT), Human Resources, Office of Compliance, Corporate Security and Regulatory Affairs (CSRA), Internal Audit, Customer Operations, and more.

Responsible for creating and instilling a purpose driven culture including a patient and safety minded perspective in leadership of the distribution centers and engagement with functional areas across the enterprise.
Responsible for managing the distribution services management team who handles day-to-day financial and operational performance in numerous distribution centers with high value inventory ($2Billion+) within a designated geography to achieve short and long term financial and operating goals including asset management and saleable inventory to help drive performance.
Reviews and monitors standard operating procedures in all distribution centers within the geography, promoting quality, efficiency and safety to achieve an increase in earnings, enhanced margins, improved accuracy, effective customer service and lower costs.
Increase collaboration and best practice sharing between AmerisourceBergen’s many distribution functions including specialty and animal health within the same geography to operate as one unified organization. In addition, increase collaboration with various business units across the enterprise to drive performance improvements as a network.
Engages in frequent communications with Commercial leaders who oversee commercial business units to ensure customers, in the designated geography, are not facing service issues from distribution centers and assists in resolving issues that may arise.
Partners closely with the Customer Experience team to understand full scope of insight and metrics based on customer surveys to ensure customer needs are fully being met.
Participates in the development of all company policies and procedures that impact distribution services and responsible for executing and cascading the communication and implementation processes of policies and procedures throughout assigned geographical location.
Responsible for putting people first through growth and professional development opportunities for associates, leading performance management initiatives and enabling direct management teams to ensure they are equipped to provide development opportunities for their associates.
Responsible for large staff planning teams of up to 1,000 associates (up to $50,000,000 in payroll expense) per assigned geographical area, including the review and approval of distribution center staffing plans. Performs succession planning for the geography and participates in similar process for the corporation.
Prioritizes network wide operational projects and initiatives through collaboration with peer groups and field teams to drive performance improvements as a network.
Supports integration of new businesses and acquisitions to AmerisourceBergen.
Supports compliance with all government regulations and acts as key contact for all regulatory agencies. Protects and maintains controls to manage over $2 billion in inventory.
Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements in partnership with the Corporate Security and Regulatory Affairs and Office of Compliance functions.
Ensures compliance with internal and external financial control requirements including, but not limited to, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, in partnership with the Internal Audit function.
Frequent travel required.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Requires broad training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four (4) year bachelor's degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education. Normally requires a minimum of twelve (12) directly related and progressively responsible experience, including at least six (6) years’ experience at a manager level.
