The Category Manager is responsible for:
leading strategic and complex procurement sourcing activities related to spend in digital marketing / digital media, marketing technology (MarTech), print and print media, Agency, Creative, Media and Production categories.
defining, developing and implementing sourcing strategies for managed categories, consistent with overall objectives.
developing sourcing strategy to deliver optimal level of service and results through planning, business need, industry assessment, strategy definition, execution, supplier selection, transactional planning and contracting.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for leading strategic and complex procurement sourcing activities related to spend in specific categories
Define, develop and implement sourcing global strategies for managed categories, consistent with overall objectives
Lead the global sourcing process including eSourcing RFI/RFP/RFX, negotiations, and contract execution with selected suppliers
Develop and lead global sourcing strategy to deliver optimal level of service and results through planning, business need, industry assessment, strategy definition, execution, supplier selection, transactional planning and contracting.
Align with senior leaders and business partners to develop short-term and long-term category objectives and pipeline opportunities, while offering solutions and optimal solutions to achieve business goals
Monitor the supplier market and identify opportunities, resulting from new product offerings and/or industry trends
Drive and influence innovation and continuous improvement
Leverage market intelligence to validate and benchmark costs and competitive pricing.
Prioritize and conduct spend and savings analysis
Manage multiple projects and initiatives within assigned categories with the ability to meet defined timelines and provide proactive status communication to business partners
Manage supplier relationships and execute supplier performance management techniques in accordance with standards and guidelines and in collaboration with business partners
Prepare and conduct Quarterly Business Reviews
Monitor supplier performance in accordance with contract obligations, SLA's, KPI's, and metrics to maximize compliance and mitigate issues
Accountable for the individual performance and results or that of a team
Accurately forecast Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for proposed solutions
Manage performance by adhering to cost reduction and savings goals and developing financial models for category spend
Ensure all contract obligations and risks are properly documented and mitigated
Manages staff in the development and implementation of department processes, procedures and programs. Ensures adherence to Company processes and procedures
Preferred Education and Experience:
MA/MS/MBA or equivalent preferred
Role is balanced between managerial capabilities and technical expertise.
5-7 years Marketing and/or Marketing Category Management experience
Has in-depth knowledge of Strategic Sourcing and interacts with business partners to attain results or solve problems
Must have experience in global category management and strategic sourcing including advanced contract T&C's, negotiation skills and best in class processes.
Previous management experience leading small to large teams preferred
Strong level project management and analytical skills
Ability to effectively work across a matrix global organization
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
Demonstrated highly developed experience in negotiation and best in class practices
Strong ability to assess and manage contractual, operational, financial and business risk
Professional qualification/certification from related professional organizations (CPM, CPSM, APICS) would be advantageous.
