Job Description Summary
This position serves as an financial analyst dedicated to Wharton Computing,Â Wharton Operations, and Wharton Research Data Services Departments.Â
This position has a dual reporting role to the Associate Controller of RCM Operations and to the Chief Information Officer & Senior Director of Wharton Operations.Â The position is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and planning of both units as well as the School capital and technology funds. The position will work with the CIO to develop pricing and cost allocation methods for IT pricing to departmental units within the School. This position will work with Senior Director of Wharton Operations on review and inspection of reports from the Division of Facilities and Real Estate services to ensure costs absorbed by the Wharton School are appropriate. This includes utilities cost tracking analysis of allocated costs, and internal billing to departments within the School.
Serve as primary financial partner to Wharton Computing and Wharton Operations. Analyze and improve current financial and operation work processes within these departments. Proactively seek solutions to make more effective business processes in all areas of the departments.
Develop annual department budgets and period projections for the division of Wharton Computing and Wharton Operations.Â Responsible for annual fiscal year end close and analysis, annual tax reporting and policy compliance.
Reconcile monthly activity (operating expense, payroll, revenue), determine spending trends, and recommend areas of cost containment. This includes a review of University charges for reasonableness.Â Present monthly reporting and analysis to Directors including variance analysis and forecasting.
Collaborate with Senior Director of Wharton Operations to compile and forecast School capital budget for current year as well as five year outlook. As related projects are funded, process budget transfers and monitor funds flow to capital funds from initiation to close out of projects.
Bachelor's degree with 5-7 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
