The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking candidates for an Agriculture Specialist I or II. Â This position will work at the Southeast Research Farm (SERF), Crawfordsville, and the Muscatine Island Research Farm (MIRF), Fruitland, Iowa. Â
This position will assist with managing agronomic and horticultural research and demonstration activities at the ISU SERF and MIRF. Â Additionally, this position will conduct and coordinate on-farm trials with farmer cooperators and assist with extension programming across southeast Iowa. Responsibilities include operating precision agricultural equipment involving tillage, planting, spraying, harvest, grain transfer, and hauling; field plot setup; scouting and data collection for research projects; maintenance and machinery repairs; Â preparation for field days; development and management of the agricultural trials program on cooperating private farmersâ fields; conduct on-farm trials and assist with extension meetings; and driving farm machinery and ISU vehicles both on the farm and off the farm to pick up supplies, buy repair parts, inspect machinery to purchase.
In addition to the duties above, the Agriculture Specialist II will have more oversight and responsibilities with data collection and research projects. They will also have additional responsibilities with the development and management of the agricultural trials.
The required minimum education and experience for the Agricultural Specialist II is a Bachelorâs degree and 1 year of related experience; OR a combination of education and related experience totaling 5 years.
