The Office of Facilities Planning and Support Services is committed to providing excellent customer service to faculty, staff, students and visitors of NOVA. Facilities Planning & Support Services Consists of: Planning, Capital Proje cts, Non- Capital Projects, Operations, Sustainability and Fleet Management. Under the Planning area, the Environmental unit ensures that NOVA is in compliance with all applicable environmental regulations, by providing oversight of all activities and projects that might have an impact on the environment. Under the supervision of the Environmental Compliance Officer, this position will assist with various environmental related efforts such as: dam safety activities, stormwater management activities and environmental data collection among others.
Description of Duties and Tasks:
Job duties included but are not limited to:
Perform inspections on stormwater struct ures, dams and campus pollution prevention activities. Additionally, time will be spent entering information into databases and updating maps.
Perform field monitoring and data collection activities for environmental/stormwater projects.
Assist in data collection, technical analyses, and written documentation, such as locating and mapping stormwater infrastructure.
Conduct research relevant to environmental com pliance and management topics
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
High School diploma or equivalent; or combination of education, training and experience
College/University coursework in en vironmental science, water resources, ecology, natural resource management, geology, engineering or other natural or applied science.
Valid driver's license and good driving record.
Previous experience doing environmental related work data analysis, or research.
Career aspirations in environmental science or engineering
Experience using drafting software such as AutoCAD, GIS, tree management software
