Position Summary: SUNY Geneseo seeks applicants for a Learning Spaces Technician. The Learning Spaces Technician provides support for technology in our academic classrooms. This includes responding to calls from the campus community, troubleshooting equipment problems, and performing upgrades and repairs. The Technician also provides support for in-class web/video conferences and coordinates and assists with recording and live streaming college events and activities. In addition to resolving technical problems, they provide training and documentation for our customers. They work collaboratively within the Educational Technology group to explore new technologies for learning spaces and establish new services as needed. They may be required to work evenings and weekends on an occasional basis to support classes and special events.
Salary: high $40s to mid $50s, commensurate with experience.
Required Qualifications ? A minimum of two years college education or an Associates degree or higher in a relevant field, such as Educational Technology, Instructional Technology or related discipline. ? Professional experience installing, troubleshooting, and configuring technology and audio-visual components or equivalent technical certifications. ? Demonstrated technical troubleshooting in audio-visual technologies. ? Superior commitment to serving others with empathy, timeliness, accuracy, thoroughness, and professionalism. ? Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment. ? Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive working/teaching environment. ? Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. ? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. ? Available to work weekends and evenings on an occasional basis.
Preferred Qualifications ? Bachelors degree in educational technology, instructional technology, computer science, computer engineering, information systems, or related field. ? One or more years professional experience in a higher education IT environment. ? In-depth and broad knowledge of computing technologies, audio/visual equipment, and audio/visual control systems. ? Familiarity with Extron control systems, asset tracking software, and/or certifications in the audio-visual field. ? Experience creating documentation, tutorials, and instructional materials. ? Demonstrated enthusiasm for technology and its application to the teaching and learning environment.
