With a prospective cohort design, the AAAFTS LongROAD Senior Driver Cohort Study is designed to provide much needed information for advancing the science and practice of safe mobility through a life-course perspective and contribute profoundly to traffic safety and public health. The Maryland Site of the AAAFTS LongROAD Senior Driver Cohort Study enrolled 588 active drivers aged 65–79 years and completed all in-person baseline assessments. Participants are assessed annually (both by phone and in-person) until the study period has ended. Study staff is currently conducting follow-up phone assessments and will be beginning follow-up phone assessments. Study staff has also begun GPS data collection through a smart phone app. All participants must be screened for eligibility. If participants are eligible and willing to participate, they must be consented and assisted in downloading the GPS App into their smart phone. The Research Program Assistant will be working with both the PI and Project Coordinator of the study to call all actively enrolled participants to screen for GPS App eligibility, orally consent, and assist in downloading the app over the phone. Participants may have to schedule an in person visit for help with the GPS App download.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
The Research Program Assistant will perform light office work including prepare mailings, call participants, assist with data entry, and filing. S/He will implement study record keeping, both electronically and on paper, as specified in study protocol and complete additional research support activities as necessary. The Research Program Assistant will follow protocols for consenting participants to the new GPS study protocols. The Research Program Assistant must be outgoing, have a friendly disposition, and excellent phone etiquette. The Research Program Assistant must be sensitive and mature, as s/he is required to call 65-79 year old patients of a Johns Hopkins Clinic and screen for GPS App eligibility, orally consent, and assist in the app download. S/He will be trained and certified in GPS App protocols and standard operating procedures of the main office. It is expected that the Research Program Assistant will follow protocols closely with a strong attention to detail. The Research Program Assistant must be very organized, have great time management skills, have the ability work well independently with minimal supervision, meet important study deadlines on time and be willing to travel to the main study office.

Prefer some related coursework or administrative experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job. *

Experience in human subjects research, oral consenting, and smart phone app operations is strongly preferred.
