Embedded within the Athena Core Platform Team and operating with a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) mindset, you will be responsible for delivering engineering solutions to operations problems, and identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve the resiliency and stability of the Athena platform. You will need to be both technically confident and a strong communicator in order to be an effective technical partner to a variety of teams across the Global Technology organization. Responsibilities: · Ensuring there are well-known, and well-practiced recovery plans for the most critical components of the Athena Core Platform and for the components we most heavily rely upon. · Designing and implementing solutions that optimize recovery and failover where overly manual processes exist today. · Design, code, test and deliver software to automate manual operational work. · Engage with development team throughout the software development life cycle to help develop software for reliability and scale, ensuring minimal refactoring or changes. · Troubleshoot priority incidents, partner with operations team to facilitate blameless post-mortems and ensure permanent closure of incidents. · Identify problematic application design patterns and partner with developers to implement solutions. · Instrument the Athena platform to record and present SLI metrics for key services. · Design self-healing and resilient systems in partnership with developers.
This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including: · Demonstrable experience in building resilient systems · Technical confidence combined with strong communication skills in order to be an effective partner to a variety of teams within JP Morgan · Expertise in at least one technology stack; designing, coding, testing, and delivering software · Proficiency in one or more technology domains, may be a cross-domain expert able to solve complex and mission critical problems within a business or across the firm · Working knowledge of infrastructure components. (E.g. routers, load balancers , cloud products , container systems , compute, storage and networks) · Excellent debugging and trouble shooting skills
