Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience.
Experience leading a team of communications professionals for a large public or private entity. Experience in a communications position that involved various media types including; oral, written, electronic, and social media. Experience writing communications plans for a multi-year roll out. Experience successfully interfacing and collaborating with external partners. Experience advising executive-level administrators on strategic messaging, communications, and media relations. Experience with market analysis, goal setting and use of analytics to drive campaigns. Experience presenting complex and technical subject matter to audiences with varying levels of comprehension.
Information Technology Services at Iowa State University is accepting applications for a Communications Manager to provide leadership and oversight of our comprehensive communications and marketing strategy. This position will guide all outreach efforts for the department and will be responsible for coordinating communication efforts between ITS and other university divisions and departments responsible for the implementation and on-going support for Workday.
This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of internal and external communication pieces, public and media relations, marketing materials and plans, social media components and the departmentâs website. This position will develop proposals, presentations, reports,correspondences, and related communications intended for a wide range of audiences including faculty, staff, students, and media outlets.
The successful candidate will have outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skillsâ; the ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality when representing the Vice President and CIO; demonstrated ability to lead an effective communications team; and a commitment to fostering a collegial working environment.
