This position assists in providing the accounting functions of the Cooperative, and its' subsidiary, in accordance with generally accepted accounting procedures.
Reports to: Manager of Finance & Accounting
Research, monitor and ensure general tax compliance for both parent and subsidiary (i.e. sales tax, use tax, gross receipts tax, telephone tax, property tax, etc.). This includes monitoring Farm Tax Exemption certificates as well as Reduced Manufacturing rates.
Research FCC reporting requirements. Prepare and/or assist in report preparation. Ensure timeliness of reporting to avoid lapse in funding.
Prepare Arkansas and Oklahoma financial statements (Forms 7) on a monthly basis. Compare to Consolidated statements for errors or omissions.
Prepare Consolidated statistical reports.
Perform detailed monthly financial analysis and prepare report for Manager of Finance and Accounting, VP/CFO, CEO and the Board (for both parent and subsidiary).
Maintain Asset Management Module and handle accounting for Special Equipment.
Maintain the Fleet Management Module. This includes maintaining a vehicle database, monitoring registration renewals and preparing Form 2290 "Schedule of Heavy Highway Vehicles" annually. In addition, this person will maintain/administer fuel fobs to drivers of Company vehicles.
Prepare monthly Accounts Payable bank reconciliations for both parent and subsidiary.
Monitor and reconcile meter pedestal and water heater inventory accounts.
Prepare monthly sales tax reports for both parent and subsidiary. Perform sales tax research as necessary.
Prepare and distribute Daily Usage Report to CEO and VPs.
Conduct periodic cash drawer audits at headquarters as well as all district offices.
Prepare quarterly Cost of Debt adjustment factors for Arkansas Public Service Commission. Calculate the Cost of Debt for the Oklahoma System every 6 months.
Assist in work paper preparation for the annual audit of the Cooperative's financial statements.
Assist in annual Budget process. This includes calculating estimates to be used for various lines as well as analysis of historical figures.
Compile financial information for Annual Report to members.
Prepare annual property tax reports for both parent and subsidiary. This includes multiple states.
Complete other special projects as directed.

The Accountant shall be required to perform any other duties assigned to fulfill the objectives of the Cooperative.
Consumer/Members: Courteously answers member inquires, and, if unable to do so, directs them to the appropriate person, making every effort to gain their increased understanding and acceptance of the Cooperative plans, programs and policies.
Education, Training, and Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting required; CPA required. Two years previous accounting experience required. Cooperative experience beneficial. Tax compliance experience beneficial.
Abilities and Skills: Must be detail-oriented. Must be able to prepare written communications clearly.
Physical Effort: Sitting at a desk with computer monitor will be the most continuous position. Occasional lifting and/or carrying of up to 15 pounds may be necessary.
Working Conditions: Work will be performed in an office environment. Out of town travel or varied work hours may be occasionally required.
