The TMS Manager provides tactical direction and leadership to load planners and customer service team in managing the daily transportation needs of the account. Ensure loads are covered and tracked from order receipt to final delivery and payment. Includes all related activity such as claims and freight payment. Communicate discrepancies and proactively alert customer for changes, working directly with carriers / RDCs to identify root causes and ensure timely resolution. Ensure all inventory and material
discrepancies are resolved quickly and accurately to eliminate production loss or transportation
service failures. Create and foster a relationship with the customerâ€™s logistics manager to
facilitate operational stability.
â€¢Interview and hire salaried associates, as well as provide career development, mentoring and promotional opportunities to qualified direct reports.
â€¢Ensure team has a strong focus on details and is thoroughly trained in the problem resolution process.
â€¢Emphasize safety performance as a recognized indicator of individual and team success.
â€¢Ensure compliance with regulations and policies, and preferred work methods are followed.
â€¢Quickly resolve inventory, material, and carrier issues or escalate to manager for alternate mode decision.
â€¢Train, coach and plan work for all direct reports.
â€¢Stay current on the customer's industry.
â€¢Proactively look for opportunities to grow existing operation.
â€¢Understand the P&L, budget and financial health of the operation. Identify issues and resolve with leadership.
â€¢Review operating metrics and fix out-of-tolerance results.
â€¢Understand how customer, supplier and vendor fleets work together and affect overall supply chain performance.
â€¢Monitor carrier performance to optimize value delivered to the customer.
Skillset by Position and Level of Expertise:
â€¢Bachelorâ€™s degree in Business or Supply Chain preferred
â€¢3 - 5 years related functional experience in multiple supply chain service lines (transportation, LLP, etc), required. 1 - 3 years managerial or supervisory experience, required.
â€¢Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule and work at the specific location required.
