The purpose of the role is to support the Heads of Desk and investment professionals (Fixed Income, Equities, Dealing, Property, Derivatives and Multi-Asset) as the dedicated risk resource working within the business to implement and improve the Front Office risk framework. This is a delivery focussed role, not an advisory function.
What will you be doing
Participation in designated projects to identify any new key risks at the initiation stage and to ensure that any changes to the teams procedures, risks and controls are identified and addressed prior to go live.
Ensuring team procedures are in place for all key tasks, with key controls aligned to the Front Office risk registers.
Building process maps showing key controls and used to identify any additional control requirements (e.g. at process hand-offs).
Working with the management team to ensure that risk registers are up to date and accurate (by being part of the team more likely to identify omissions and errors).
Ensuring that any risks events are reported on a timely basis and appropriate corrective and preventative actions are identified and implemented.
Oversee and coordinate updates and reporting of any Risk Events linked to Front Office.
Working closely with the wider Risk & Control team (1st Line), contribute to the RCSA (Self-Assessment) process.
Collating control evidence requested by auditors, 2nd line and Risk & Controls team. Ensuring Front Office related actions are tracked and completed on time.
Ensuring policies are communicated to the team and requirements are implemented and embedded in team procedures and controls.
Contribute to the Business Continuity Planning process to ensure that team level plans and impact assessment is kept up to date and communicated, as appropriate.
Manage, monitor and oversee the Front Office system estate with regards user access, permissions, and associated lists.
Provide cover to Front Office Operations and support designated system and business process improvements.
What we're looking for
Quick to assess business activities and processes and identify gaps and scope for development or enhancement.
In depth understanding of regulations affecting RLAM's business model
Experience of delivering and/or supporting projects
Experience of influencing and impacting at Executive/Board Level
The ability to influence senior management and demonstrate Collaborative and Trustworthy behaviours and values.
Understanding of regulatory responsibilities.
Works with other teams e.g. 1st Line Risk, GR&C, Operations in an open and collaborative way
Skills that will help you in the role
Knowledge and experience of Asset Management processes, products and controls is essential.
Strong capability to produce, maintain and analyse management information.
Advanced Excel/Word/PowerPoint skills.
Previous experience within a risk, audit or compliance and/or Front Office environment is desirable, including an understanding of Fund Manager / Dealer daily routines and processes.
