Part Time (Benefits-Eligible), Monday-Friday, 7:30am-11:30am Position will be full time November 27th until March 30th, 7:30am-4:00pm. Position will return to part time March 31st, 2020.
Capital Health has an excellent opportunity for a Histotechnologist to join our team.
Prepares for all phases of routine surgical pathology specimens for microscopic diagnosis, including processing, embedding, microtomy, H&E staining and frozen sectioning.
Determines the adequacy of routine and special stains, including immunohistochemical stains, according to departmental protocols.
Receives, accessions and prepares cytopathology specimens for processing.
Performs a variety of special histochemical and immunohistochemical stains according to departmental protocol.
Keeps manual and/or computerized records accurate and current for quality control and equipment maintenance. Performs routine maintenance on equipment as recommended by the manufacturer.
Advises supervisor of supply needs and reagent out-dates. Performs departmental inventory. Orders supplies.
Instructs and provides technical guidance to Histology Assistant. Assumes supervisory duties when required.
Bachelor's degree or acceptable certification.
Less than one year of related experience or five years of experience as a histotechnician.
