Job Summary: Full-time researcher in the Biomedical Technologies Division at UTARI assisting on research and development projects and technology commercialization. The research focus includes embedded circuit design, testing, prototyping and programming for soft robotic biomedical devices. The researcher is expected to contribute in the design, development, and testing of new technologies as well as supporting new grant/contract opportunities. Role may include assisting in establishing and developing collaborative partnerships, contributing to defining the research scope of the Division, providing some project management, and contributing to patentable ideas and patent applications. Majority of activities will involve lab work (experimental and theoretical). May work around standard office conditions Essential Duties: 1. Specific technical duties/responsibilities for this role: Conduct research on assistive and preventive biomedical applications by designing circuits for prototype biomedical devices and developing firmware as well as accompanying software. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, plus four (4) years or equivalent expereince. Master’s degree plus two (2) years relevant experience, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Bio-Engineering. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering with experience in embedded system design and programming. Proven track record of embedded designs for control system implementations.
