Summer Adventures in Learning is a unique summer day camp experience hosted on the campus of Science & Arts Academy (SAA) in Des Plaines, IL. Programming is available for all 3 year olds through rising 8th graders in the community, including those who attend SAA and other schools during the year. There are no other eligibility requirements. Summer Adventures in Learning is a highly sought after day camp in the area and spaces often fill well before the summer begins! Staff choose to work at Summer Adventures because of the professional challenge, the opportunities to build meaningful relationships with campers, the creativity of programming, and the support offered by colleagues and administrators. Families can register their child for one, two, or three sessions:
Session 1: June 15th - June 26th
Session 2: June 29th - July 10th
Session 3: July 13th - July 24th
The Coordinator oversees the day-to-day operations of Summer Adventures in Learning, including but not limited to: training and supervision of camp counselors, program development and quality control, management of camper records and medication, point person for escalated camper behavior concerns and emergencies, and various administrative tasks to support the functioning of the overall program. The Coordinator is a strategic partner of the Director of Auxiliary Programs.
This is a full-time position, 8am-4pm, from June 8th (start of counselor orientation week) through July 24th (end of Session 3). Priority will be given to applicants available to assist with projects and other planning tasks on a part-time basis starting in mid-May. This position is a potential job share opportunity.

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, and Illinois Teaching Certification is preferred (experience in gifted education is a plus but not essential)
At least three years of relevant program management and supervision experience
Proficient with email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases is essential
Must pass background check and complete all safety training and orientation requirements
Additional Salary Information: We offer a competitive hourly rate for this leadership position. The salary range will be discussed during the interview process and offer will include an hourly rate commensurate with experience.
