Job Summary GVEC is looking to hire a full-time Line Design Technician I that will be responsible for completing detailed field notes/staking sheets, performing complex computations, maintaining line construction information and inventory, entering line design data using computers, GIS and GPS technologies, documenting proper placement of power/fiber lines, and resolving problems.
Responsibilities: • Work with Cooperative members to ensure proper placement, removal or upgrade of electric/fiber facilities • Complete detailed field notes/staking sheets to record all units and information necessary for line construction and material inventory • Enter field survey information into Cooperative computer systems and GIS software to include, but not limited to contact notes and Dig Tess staking notifications • Deed research • Acquire and notarize easements from property owners and secure necessary permits as needed • Prepare and communicate construction cost estimates as needed • Respond to routine member inquiries concerning job status in a professional and courteous manner • Maintain professional working relationships with all members and internal employees • Maintain a clean and safe work area at office, field sites and vehicle • Keep all tools and equipment in proper working order
Requirements: • Ability to obtain and maintain a notary certification • Possess a valid Texas driver’s license • Basic computer skills in the following application: MS Word, Excel and Outlook • Ability to work in extreme temperatures and environments • Must be able to work alone and walk (multiply miles) daily • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and confidently • Excellent problem-solving skills - able to effectively troubleshoot minor issues independently • Demonstrated ability to effectively evaluate and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment • Self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic. Able to work independently with impeccable sense of integrity • Team player with the resolve to provide and take constructive criticism that helps evolve the team
Preferences: • Knowledge of electric distribution design and construction practices and standards Knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code rules and regulations
