Columbia University College of Dental Medicine Senior Associate Dean for Clinics The College of Dental Medicine (CDM) seeks an action-oriented, operationally savvy, institutional dentistry leader to function as the Senior Associate Dean for Clinics. Working the Dean and academic leadership, the Senior Associate Dean for Clinics will provide oversight for Clinic Operations and Patient Experience. This position reports to the Dean.
The Senior Associate Dean for Clinics will oversee all clinical operations that support the CDM teaching clinic, including:
Serving as Dental Director of the teaching clinic, with ultimate accountability for the clinic's care provision and financial outcomes, including compliance with the Department of Health's Article 28 regulations in addition to other pertinent federal, state and local regulations including HIPAA, Title IX, FDA, and DOE.
Tracking key metrics of patient experience and student progress, leveraging these empirical insights to drive strategy in program design and implementation.
Overseeing clinic productivity, scheduling, service quality, supply chain, facilities and equipment management, central sterilization, infection prevention and control and recall systems.
Spearheading the collection of clinical data and its provision for student research, while supporting academic leadership in analyzing data and using research results in treatment planning and ongoing patient care.
Ensuring the entire patient care model – both the end=to-end experience and the experience within any one module-is patient centered and provides the highest standard of care.
Overseeing patient relations, discharge, financial advising and timely resolution of patient complaints and refund/adjustment requests.
Partnering with the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) and clinical leadership to ensure correct, complete, compliant, and optimized Electronic Health Records.
Serving on the College of Dental Medicine's Leadership Team and overseeing the clinic's administrative functions.

Qualifications include, but are not limited to:
A successful track record in dental clinical practice, ideally with management responsibilities in addition to high-quality clinical care delivery.
Material leadership experience in a well-regarded institution setting in a competitive market, ideally a major academic medical center
Successful oversight and/or implementation of clinical quality assurance programs at scale. Success leading individuals and teams/committees.
The Senior Associate Dean for Clinics will have an academic appointment at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Academic rank is determined by the CDM Committee on Appointments and Promotion (CoAP).
Candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice dentistry in New York State. In addition, the Senior Associate Dean for Clinics must have solid understanding of applicable regulatory and compliance paradigms (DOH Article 28). Successful candidates must also possess sound strategic, clinical, technical, operations and ethical judgement with uncompromising integrity.
