St. Louis College of Pharmacy is currently seeking a Director of Information Technology to manage provide technology leadership and management of systems and services. The position will focus on technology strategic and tactical activities in alignment with college mission and strategic plan, budgeting and fiscal management of the end-user computing and classroom technology environment, project leadership, technology asset management, software license tracking, and is the focal point for end-user communication during system outage and crisis situations. This position leads some aspects of IT, reporting to the Vice President of Operations, and collaborates closed with IT leaders in administrative systems, academic technology and network systems.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
Work with IT Governance Committee to create and implement Information Technology strategy, standards and innovation for the campus to understand user needs, resolving problems and directing the building of teams to work across all levels of the organization. Aligns projects and operations with the institutional mission, vision and values;
Providing technology leadership and management of technology systems and services while co-managing the day-to-day operations of the Information Technology department.
Act as the focal point for end-user communication during system outage and crisis situations.
Coordinate evaluation of new hardware and software components for the STLCOP microcomputer environment and makes recommendations for new standards, equipment acquisitions, upgrades and/or replacements.
Recommending and/or determining the institution’s long-term system needs and proposing hardware/software solutions to accomplish the institution’s business objectives and to support campus goals.
Work with departments on hardware and software requests to validate that they meet STLCOP standards and policies.
Evaluates end-user hardware and software requests for possible inclusion into College microcomputer standards.
Acts as liaison to microcomputer software and hardware vendors.
Oversee administration of (develop, test, deploy and verify deployment) the Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager environment.
Operating Systems Deployment - Build and deploy customized operating systems, settings, drivers and applications to client computers.
Software Deployment - Deploy customized applications silently to client computers.
Patch deployment - Test and deploy software updates for client’s operating systems and applications. Set maintenance windows and schedule reboots.
Compliance Baselines - deploy settings, registry edits, power settings, OS settings, app settings to clients.
Report on security patch compliance, application deployment, and other custom reports as needed.
Software Metering – Determine deployed software usage for licensing compliance.
App-V - design, test and deploy virtual applications
Oversee management of the College’s Information Technology data security program. Broad knowledge of legal issues and risks relating to cyber security, privacy, data stewardship, intellectual property, and copyright.
Negotiating and maintaining responsibility for managing various IT related vendor contracts.
Translating and articulating administrative and educational goals of the institution into technical initiatives.
Work with VP of Operations to develop and implement a strategic professional development plan for all IT staff.
Maintains current knowledge of profession and technology trendsthrough peer association, review of literature, collaboration with state CIO council, and attendance at workshops and conferences related to duties and responsibilities.
Use effective written and oral communication skills to:
Prepare and submit employee performance evaluations and annual reviews.
Deliver feedback on resolved problems to the technical support staff using the Heat knowledge base and/or training.
Keep customers, departmental contacts, and supervisors informed of problem resolution status.
Set appropriate expectations with customers.
Respond to questions from departmental managers, end-users, and peers.
Establish and maintain working relationships with all departments throughout the College.
Maintain knowledge of relevant product offerings and support policies.
Occasional 50-hour weeks can be expected and a pager must be worn.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications and How to Apply
To succeed in this role you will need:
Education & Experience:
Four-year degree in technology field or equivalent formal technical education highly desired.
Minimum of three years supervisory and/or project management experience and five years related technical experience.
Must have thorough understanding and technical proficiency in the use of Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office products. Must have some exposure to networking protocols (TCP/IP, NetBEUI, SNA, etc.) and have experience with one or more Microsoft BackOffice components (SMS, SQL Server, Exchange, IIS, etc.).
Ability to design solutions for diverse operating systems such as current Windows platforms.
Expertise and knowledge required in working with virtualized server and desktop environments such as VMware vSphere, View, Lab Manager, Microsoft Hyper-V and App-V.
Must have the ability to work with diverse hardware platforms such as, Intel-based systems, routers, switches, firewalls, servers and assorted network electronics.
Must have knowledge and ability to work with MS Exchange, DNS, DHCP, SMS, TCP/IP, NAT, and antivirus software.
Expertise and knowledge required in working with Desktop management tools such as SCCM, Altiris etc.
In-depth knowledge of microcomputer architecture, components, peripherals (printers, disk, video, USB devices, etc.), and hardware standards is required.
Ability to act as a facilitator, team leader, and project manager.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to work independently to solve problems and schedule tasks in an environment of changing priorities and emergency situations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience creating technical documentation.
Strong customer service skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective, professional, and harmonious relationships with supervisors, team members, faculty and staff.
Strong personal management skills emphasizing: time management, organization, and attention to detail.
