Educational Technology Services (ETS) is a part of the Academic Technology Services group that provides technology services, support, and resources to the UC San Diego academic community, facilitating teaching and learning in service of the University's educational mission.
As part of the Multimedia Services team, the EdTech Specialist-Video Platforms will deliver technology tools and support to enable teaching and learning throughout UC San Diego. Working at the enterprise and campus-wide level, you will use your expertise with our video delivery platforms, primarily Kaltura, and multimedia e-learning tools to find the right strategic technology solutions for faculty needs. This position will work closely with our EdTech Support and integration teams, as well as other groups on campus to manage pilots for cutting edge technology and develop teaching and learning use cases. Working independently, you will apply advanced concepts to lead and coordinate multimedia delivery of instructional content via online systems.
You will develop, document, and implement policies, processes and workflows for the unit or services to include video encoding, asset management, web distribution, accessibility and intellectual property compliance issues. Communicates with high-level clients to determine pedagogical and technical needs and solutions. Technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and recognized expertise in specific areas; problem-solving frequently requires analysis of unique issues/problems without precedent and/or structure. Manages programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources; functions independently.
Recommend and implement video delivery solutions to support teaching and learning across campus.
Support video delivery platform and act as point-person for faculty trouble-shooting and vendor requests.
Manage pilots for interactive video tools and partner with EdTech Support for LMS integrations.
Partner with instructional designers to develop standards and best practices for video and multimedia instructional content.
Problem-solving technical issues within campus and vendor systems to ensure service level agreements are maintained.
Lead training sessions and presentations with faculty and other campus stakeholders to advance the use of video and multimedia at UC San Diego.
Employee must be available to work evenings and weekends.
Employee must be available to travel as required.
A Bachelor's Degree in related area with experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education. A Master's Degree is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to assess campus or institutional needs for online video delivery platforms and services to meet those needs.
Advanced understanding of internet-based media distribution solutions, video streaming standards and interactive media formats.
Proven experience with a variety of media production methods and equipment. Ability to use this information to troubleshoot and assist non-technical users with video productions.
Advanced customer service and consultative skills to identify and implement required technology solutions.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
