The Research Weight Management Group located in our downtown Hartford location is currently seeking a Research Assistant 1.
Under the supervision of the Project Director, the Research Assistant 1 will help to facilitate all aspects of our research, which is focused on lifestyle interventions for the treatment of obesity, including weight loss and weight loss maintenance. Our interventions focus on diet, physical activity, and cognitive and behavior change strategies. Study participants are from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Interaction with participants is within the context of screening, assessments, and treatment delivery.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in activities related to the recruitment, tracking, and follow-up of study participants.
Facilitate and perform assessment procedures, which involve objective measurement of weight, height, blood pressure, and physical activity.
Assist with orientation and informed consent visits.
Help to develop weight management intervention materials.
Deliver intervention components to study participants in a variety of modalities (face-to-face, phone, and mHealth).
Assist with data management efforts.
Attend staff meetings.
Perform other duties as required.
Bachelor's degree in health sciences, psychology, or social sciences equivalent.
Experience with data entry, word processing, or related computer skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with colleagues and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail / conscientiousness.
Ability to work evening hours as needed.
Experience with clinical research.
Experience with developing and working in tracking systems such as Qualtrics or RedCap.
Experience using statistical software such as SPSS or SAS.
This is a full-time, 12-month position based on available funding and subject to annual renewal. Salary will be commensurate with successful candidate's background and experience. Screening of applications will begin immediately. The University offers outstanding medical and retirement benefits.
