DUTIES: The Department of Information Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Lead Programmer Analyst. Responsibilities and duties will include: Reporting to the AVP & Deputy CIO, the Application Trainer is charged with providing leadership for the coordination, implementation and management of ongoing training for staff and providers that are effective and timely. This position requires active participation in the training of Attendings, Fellows, Residents, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and Medical Students. The Trainer also assists with planning, design, development/ building, implementation, communication, maintenance and evaluation of existing or new functionality related to clinical information systems. This may require support through participation in 24 hour on-call rotation. Candidate should possess a minimum of 3-5 years of experience training individuals to use Clinical Applications using adult learning principles, designing, implementing and evaluating. - Plan, develop, and provide training and staff development programs, using knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as classroom training, web-based modules, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, reference guides/ job aides. - Must be able to suggest training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs. - Develop and organize training manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials. - Must be able to analyze and resolve training issues; Reports and documents training issues in an efficient manner. - Evaluate training programs and use feedback to improve future classes. - Contribute to the build and maintenance of the training database - Identifies test criteria, translates workflow strategies into training scripts, prepares and stages test data, and participates in system and integration testing. - Prepares end-user, computer operations and help-desk documentation, adhering to established documentation standards. - Participate in improving the quality of the software and new features. - Conduct user group meetings with other team members. - Analyzes user processes and procedures and documents functional requirements. - Experience participating in clinical information systems implementation life cycle is required. - Adheres to established application coding standards. - Participates in and conducts peer reviews of application code. - Prepares functional and technical specifications for programs and procedures of moderate to high complexity. - Analyzes operational and technical problems to determine the root cause and propose solutions. - Establishes good working relationships with uses, managers, subordinates, and peers. - Maintains membership on committees, workgroup, or task force to communicate and facilitate the ongoing status of the development, implementation, and revision of the CIS. - Other duties as assigned. (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION) QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Medical Informatics or other related disciplines and/ or other relevant combination of training and experience highly preferred. At least 2 years of experience using, supporting, and implementing Allscripts Inpatient/ Outpatient EMR. Participates in the planning, design, development/ building, training, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of existing or new functionalities related to Clinical Information Systems. - Current working knowledge of PC applications, including Word, Excel and Visio. Current working knowledge of Clinical Applications such as RIS, PACS, Eagle. Experience working with content authoring tools such as Captivate, Camtasia, Jing and/ or other content development tools, strongly preferred. At least 2 years of experience working with an LMS system highly desired. - Knowledge of software and tools required to support Allscripts Sunrise Applications such as programming tools, application tools, operating system software, database software, and other 3rd party products preferred. - Must be able to analyze and resolve problems and communicate with end users and management in a non-technical manner. Excellent interpersonal, written, communication, analytical, and organizational skills with creative approaches to information systems issues and problems.
