The CSC Research Liaison will increase research awareness and help facilitate the conduct of research at MHealth Fairview Clinics & Surgery Center (CSC) through the University of Minnesota’s (UMN) Clinical and Tranlsational Science Institute (CTSI). The Liaison will establish strong working relationships and collaborate with administrators, providers, clinical staff, research staff and key stakeholders from the University of Minnesota (UMN), MHealth Fairview and M Physicians and to develop, enhance and communicate research processes and workflows (i.e. research visits, scheduling) in the CSC.
The Liaison will have high visibility within the building, and is expected to provide research information to CSC staff and patients, including explaining the importance of research and basic research concepts. The Liaison will make periodic rounds throughout the building to enhance visibility, patient access, and connections with clinic staff. The Liaison will monitor use and performance of the Discovery Bars and StudyFinder tablets. This role will also manage the research storage space and research staff access in the CSC.
The Liaison will monitor and respond to inquiries and questions via the Research Liaison mobile phone and email account, and problem solve through varied situations that require significant understanding of research policies, federal regulations and good clinical practice. In addition, the liaison will host research meetings and provide research specific training. The Research Liaison will document and track metrics and outcomes in order to track research activity and to assess needs/opportunities.
Essential Functions or Job Duties: Research Liaison (50%) • Provide enhanced research awareness by having a physical presence throughout the building and serving as on-site point of contact for research providers, staff, and research staff in the CSC • Facilitate research processes in the CSC by providing research information and support to patient, staff, and clinicians in the CSC. Work with staff, clinicians, and research teams to execute and improve the process of connecting patients with research studies • Assess and gather information that enables quick, on-site decision-making and problem solving • Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes/workflows and engage appropriate stakeholders to identify solutions • Staff the Research Liaison mobile phone and the CSC Research Liaison email to address inquires about research in the CSC • Hold regular touch points with CSC managers and teams to understand barriers, communicate updates, and promote the role of the Research Liaison • Work with CTRS leadership, Fairview and MHealth to enhance and maintain the Discovery Bars to highlight research in the building • Assist providers and patients in their use of StudyFinder and ResearchMatch
Research Administration (40%) • Maintain accurate and complete information on the CSC Research User Guide and the Research in the CSC website. • Maintain the CSC research email list serv and communicate relevant important information • Call into daily huddle and raise and address research-related issues/concerns • Manage regular research operations agendas and meetings to drive goals forward • Route complex questions and issues to appropriate personnel • Facilitate the process for research Site Initiation Visits at the CSC • Participate in relevant planning process meetings in order to remain informed and provide input on operational initiatives that impact research processes in the CSC • Manage research storage room (inventory, usage and access) • Track and manage research staff access to the CSC and the Research Storage Room • Host training sessions for CSC clinicians and staff • Assist in managing the Study Intake Form process for research in the CSC • Responsible for interpretation of, application of, and compliance with Federal Regulations, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and University and Clinical Partner policies • Attend CSC leadership meetings to represent research, provide applicable updates and stay attune to CSC operational and strategic changes and the potential impact on research • Collaborate with the CTSI’s Recruitment Center to enhance research awareness throughout the CSC
Metrics and Evaluation (10%) • Track research questions, inquires and connections as well as any outcomes • Track and report (monthly, annually and by request) research in the CSC metrics to CTSI, MHealth, and M Physicians • Record and report feedback from patients, clinicians, and staff to help us match this role with support needed to integrate research into clinical care

Required Qualifications: • BA/BS plus at least 4 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal eight years. At least 3 years of experience in Clinical Research. • Certified as a Clinical Research Professional or Coordinator, or will obtain certification within 1 year of hire • Understanding of basic principles of clinical research and the ability to explain research concepts to lay audience • Demonstrated leadership skills in problem solving, decision-making, priority setting, and in being accountable • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft suite (i.e. Excel, Word), Google suite (i.e. Google Docs, Google Sites) , and tablet devices • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive, successful working relationships with peers, supervisors, interdisciplinary teams, and other collaborators • Ability to maintain and report accurate and meaningful data
Preferred Qualifications: • Familiarity with clinical trial/research websites, such as StudyFinder, ClinicalTrials.gov, ResearchMatch, and/or OnCore • Experience working with diverse populations • Experience managing study supplies/storage room
