The Department of Mental Health Research is seeking a Sr. Research Data Analyst to work on-site at Johns Hopkins University. The Sr. Research Data Analyst maintain databases of the on-going studies, work with the group on conducting relevant data analysis and interpreting the results; and applying existing and novel statistical methodologies such as functional data analysis and time series analysis in the areas of sleep and circadian rhythms (using data from wrist actigraphy/accelerometry and polysomnography), as well as cognitive, neuroimaging, and related behavioral data.
The Sr. Research Data Analyst will contribute to preparation of manuscripts for studies of cognition and neuroimaging. As a co-author of publications, provide description of statistical methods in manuscripts.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Collect, compile and manage project-related data.
Interact with collaborators to ensure secure and appropriate data transfer, including de-identification of data sets as required.
Develop and perform procedures for quality control analysis to identify outlying or other anomalous data points to ensure data integrity.
Create, maintain, and update R scripts to make the exploratory analysis and visualization of data collected across a few on-going studies more efficient and reproducible.
Consult with the PI, Dr. Spira, and the lead biostatistician, Dr. Zipunnikov, to explore novel statistical methodologies suitable to answer the scientific questions.
Provide substantial contributions to collaborative projects as a co-author in published work; write statistical sections in manuscripts.
Perform quick statistical analysis on data at hand.
As a co-author of publications, provide description of statistical methods in manuscripts; work with the research time to respond to and interpret referees’ comments.
Provide quick statistical analyses and presentation of data as part of formulating studies.
Master’s degree in statistics, biostatistics, mathematics or computer science or related field of study. Typically require PhD. One year related experience. Require highly specialized advanced knowledge, education and/or training in a specialized field of study to conduct research. Demonstrated ability on significant graduate project.
JHU Equivalency: Additional doctoral education may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications: Work experience and expertise with wearables or time series data in R.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong working knowledge of R is a must.
Expertise in R programming language.
Strong communications skills, both oral and written.
Strong initiative, resourcefulness, and ability learn quickly and adapt to new possibilities.
